An Evening with Donald Miller

Donald Miller is one of the most prolific Christian authors today. He is a great storyteller, using a different style than most Christian authors today. He does an exceptional job at writing non- fiction narrative, something that I am trying to pattern into my style of writing. Some of his most famous books include Blue Like Jazz and Searching for God Knows What.

About a month ago, Donald Miller came out with a new book titled, A million miles in a thousand years. He will be speaking about his book at Northland Church and some of the themes he presents in his book. I have been to a couple of his lectures and he is a dynamic speaker and storyteller.

I know this is short notice, but I recently found out about this today. He will be at Northland Church this Friday, November 13th. It starts at 7 p.m. Also joining him will be Susan Isaacs, who wrote the book Angry Conversations With God, a Snarky but Authentic Spiritual Memoir. This should be a great evening to get our creative juices flowing with inspiration.

Northland does charge for this event. It cost $12 online or $15 at the door. I plan to get there at 6:50 p.m. to meet up. Word Weavers is a Christian Writers group in Orlando (actually located in Longwood. I have never been to this grouo, I thought I would check it out.

When: Saturday, April 11th at 9:30 a.m.

I have never joined or participated with this writer's group, so I don't know what to expect. I do have an adventuress spirit and would like to have other people join me as I visit other writing groups.

This writing group meets at First Presbysterian Church of Orlando on Saturday morning at 9:30. The date is on March 15th. The events lasts for two hours and should end at 11:30 a.m.

After that, I would like to plan to go over to Panera Bread at Lake Eola to discuss our work with the Christian Writers Guild program and also open it up to new people who are interested in the program.

I hope to meet some new people and if you are able to come out I will see you there!

One of the biggest challenges for anyone who wants to or like to write is to actually write. I do and I suspect others also need that extra support and encouragement to write. I hope this group will give us that support and encouragement. Come join us as we explore and exchange writing ideas and projects.

First, I would like to meet at Volcanoes Coffeehouse next to the Altamonte Mall at 3:00 p.m. This will be a time to meet and greet one another and talk about our new ideas and projects for our writing. Bring your journals or laptops with you need to.
Then, as a group, we can either decide to write something that inspires us during our discussion time, or we could watch go watch an inspirational movie if there is one playing at the theatres. Then after the movie, we can get together to write about the movie and/or share what we wrote later that evening or at our next meetup. We will just go with the flow of what the groups wants to do.
I will bring a list of movies and times to the meetup so we can make a decision there. I like to make decisions as a group and like to be flexible.

I hope this appeals to you. Please let me know or give me some great suggestions for other meetup expereiences, activities, and events. I am pretty laid back and esay going!
